Continued from front page ...  Why Pray the Rosary?

Over  the centuries  the saints and popes have highly recommended the rosary, the
greatest prayer in the Church after the Mass and Liturgy of the Hours. It unpacks for us
the life of Jesus, the Mission, the Passion, Death, Resurrection and glory of Jesus and
His Presence among us until the end of time according to his promise. Meditation is
the form of prayer by which the one who prays uses the mind and imagination to
consider a truth and uses the will to love it and form resolutions to live it. In this way the heart, mind, and soul of the Christian is formed according to the Gospel values.

  • "Among all the devotions approved by the Church none has been so favored by so many miracles as the devotion of the Most Holy Rosary"  (Pope Pius IX).

  • "Say the Rosary every day to obtain peace for the world"  (Our Lady of Fátima).

  • "My impression is that the Rosary is of the greatest value not only according to the words of Our Lady at Fátima, but according to the effects of the Rosary one sees throughout history. My impression is that Our Lady wanted to give ordinary people, who might not know how to pray, this simple method of getting closer to God" (Sister Lucia, one of the seers of Fátima).

  • "There is no surer means of calling down God's blessings upon the family . . . than the daily recitation of the Rosary."  "We do not hesitate to affirm again publicly that we put great confidence in the Holy Rosary for the healing of evils of our times" (Pope Pius XII).

  • "No one can live continually in sin and continue to say the Rosary: either they will give up sin or they will give up the Rosary" (Bishop Hugh Doyle).

  • "The Rosary is a magnificent and universal prayer for the needs of the Church, the nations and the entire world" (Blessed Pope John XXIII).

  • "The Rosary is the compendium of the entire Gospel" (Pope Paul VI)

  • "Meditation on the mysteries of the Rosary . . . can be an excellent preparation for the celebration of those same mysteries in the liturgical actions [i.e. the Mass] and can also become a continuing echo thereof" (Pope Paul VI).

  • "How beautiful is the family that recites the Rosary every evening" (Pope John Paul II).

Beginning this weekend the Icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help will travel from the home of one parishioner to another, to offer the families in our parish the opportunities to pray as a family for the Church, the world, the community, our parish, school, for priestly vocations and any personal intentions of the host family. Our Pastoral council President Camille Ohri  and her family will begin this Prayer  Pilgrimage to ‘Renew our Catholic Prayer Legacy’ by hosting the Salvation Rosary in her home for one week. The   family will pray the Salvation Rosary in front of the icon (prayer sheets provided) and then the next host family will join the Ohri family next week to pray with them and take the icon to their home for prayer and veneration. We will invite members of the parish to take up this opportunity and any of you
can call Camille or the parish offices if you wish to have the traveling icon in your home for a week. May our Blessed Mother come to our assistance as she did at  the wedding feast at Cana and have her Son Jesus change our water into wine.
